Organic Ohia Lehua Honey

We are proud to announce that Good Food Awards has selected our organic Lehua honey as a 1st Place winner in the "honey" category for 2021!

Our most popular Hawaiian honey, Ohia Lehua honey has a delicate, distinct flavor and spreadable texture. Found only in Hawaii, the Lehua blossom produces a white, smoothly crystallized honey. Perfect for sweetening beverages, cooking or simply scooping directly out of the jar. A favorite of tea drinkers because it doesn't overwhelm the taste of the tea.

Our Lehua honey is certified organic. We produce all our honey on the Big Island of Hawaii without chemicals, artificial feeds, miticides, heat, or filtration.

The Ohia Lehua tree and blossom are rooted in Hawaiian legend of love and fidelity. Picking the blossom is said to cause rain, representing the tears shed by princess Lehua as a result of being separated from her lover, Ohia. The symbolic blossom is displayed in a beautiful illustration on each jar. A perfect gift for Valentine's Day, an anniversary or as wedding favors.

A Cut Above

I've been eating Big Island Bees honey for about 6 years or so, and I loved it. But then I discovered the Ohia Lehua flavor and my taste buds were bolted to a new level. This honey is creamy and delicious, and so sweet. I use this honey on my French toast instead of syrup. Very good food!!!

I Love The Honey

A friend of mine recently visited Big Island Bees during their trip to the island, and since I live nearby, we decided to check it out together. The tour was quite fascinating, offering insights into the various honey varieties they produce and showcasing the local farms that supply the honey. Interestingly, both of my neighbors also keep hives, which adds to the sense of community involvement.

For years, I've been a loyal consumer of their Lehua honey. While I'm not a heavy honey user, it's a key ingredient in my special pork rib recipe, which is always a hit at gatherings. The Lehua honey plays a central role in my marinade, complemented by a touch of root beer syrup or cola syrup along with some spices. After cooking the ribs in a pressure cooker with the marinade, I finish them under the broiler, using additional marinade to give them that irresistible crispiness.

I highly recommed their honey and after my recent taste testing, will have to try other varieties with my ribs.

The Best Honey Ever!

The Ohia Lehua honey is truly the most complex, best tasting honeys ever. I discovered it on the island of Maui while at a farmer’s market. It was drizzled on an açaí bowl. When I got back home I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I had to call the shop to see where it was from, and sure enough, I was lead over to Big Island Bee’s. Also great customer service. Big kudos to you guys at Big Island Bee’s. I’ll never stop recommending this to honey lovers.
