It’s Super Bowl Sunday and these sweet and spicy wings are a perfect half time treat. However, these delicious treats are fantastic at any events where pupus (the Hawaiian name for hors d'oeuvres) are “de rigueur”. I served them last year at an Oscar party and they quickly disappeared.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds chicken wings
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper ½ teaspoon each or to taste
Honey Sriracha Glaze
- 5 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup Sriracha*
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- Juice of 1 lime
* Chopped cilantro leaves and sesame seeds for garnish.
Instructions-
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
-
In a large bowl place the fresh or defrosted chicken wings. Pour over them the butter and spices and distribute evenly over the chicken. Place chicken wings onto a baking pan covered with parchment paper. Place in oven and bake for 15 minutes, flip the wings and bake 15 minutes more.
-
To make the glaze, melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Add the honey, Sriacha, soy sauce and lime juice.
-
Baste the wings with the glaze and continue to bake for 15 more minutes and the wings look crispy and golden.
-
Remove from oven. If you have any remaining glaze, you can pour that on top of the baked wings. Plate the wings and sprinkle with the cilantro leaves and sesame seeds. Serve hot and enjoy!
