Hawaiian Style Healthy Green Smoothie
Now during the blustery days of March and the worldwide scare of the Coronavirus, it is a good time to build up one’s immunity. You may also celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day at the same time with this healthy and delicious green smoothie.
My husband caught a bad flu last month and was in bed feeling miserable for over a week. He had no appetite for anything except fruit and liquids. In my attempt to give him some strength-building nutrition, I searched my garden and refrigerator to create a healthy and tasty drink. The honey makes it all so much yummier and helps relieve any sore throat or cough as well.
Our bees wintered in the Macadamia Orchards, filling their hives with this delightfully smooth and floral honey. In a couple of weeks, it will be ready to harvest. Then our days will be busy as the bees with the beekeepers harvesting, the extractors extracting, and the entire crew straining and packing this beautiful honey.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups unsweetened coconut milk
- 1 cup chopped fresh pineapple
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 large kale leaf, stripped from the stalk and chopped
- 1 teaspoon Hawaiian Spiralina
- 2 tablespoons hemp seeds
- 2 teaspoons chia seeds
- a splash of orange or pineapple juice
- 1 tablespoon Macadamia nut blossom honey or more to taste
Directions:
Blend all together and enjoy!
